![]() The Viking is far better value, in my opinion, and seems to be made to a far better standard. ![]() Nowhere near as nice as the 80s one I had. I owned an 80s (Korean) Casino once, which was very nice, but the full-hollow body means that with distortion/overdrive they feedback a lot.įrom the modern Casinos I've tried (a couple, including a very expensive John Lennon model) I was distinctly unimpressed. The semi-solid 335-style centre block construction makes the Viking very versatile. I haven't heard of anyone having problems with them, and the general consensus is that they play really well out-of-the-box. The QC on the new Hags seems to be very good, too. With mine, I got (the real) Bill Lawrence pups, a P-90-ish one in the bridge and a sort of Jazzmaster-ish pup in the neck position. The standard Hagstrom humbuckers are bland, everyone seems to agree that new pickups makes the new Hags come alive. The Viking 2 has P-90s, but it's easy enough to get a regular Viking and replace the pickups with whatever you wish. The new Viking 2 is the only model with the bad headstock, regular Vikings have the cool headstock.
